Major equipments of cricket game

Are you a cricket fanatic who loves playing cricket all time and want to make your profession or you play it just because you love the game, whatever might be the reason, buying good cricket gears is always a necessity. Only if you get quality equipments for yourself you will be comfortable, which will ultimately lead you to play good cricket.
Gone are those days where people used only bat and ball to play cricket. Only For a lay man, it is a game of bat and ball. There is lot more stuff which makes a cricketer play good cricket. A cricketer and spectator who know in and out of cricket and love the game of cricket will only know the importance of all other equipments of cricket. But whatever it is, the priority goes to bat and ball, without which the game is nothing at all. Here follows few facts about bat and ball and factors which have to be checked before buying them.
First comes the important gadget of cricket, the bat. Before purchasing any bat keep in mind the following points

  • Make sure it’s right size for you and check whether it suits your batting style.
  • Know the construction and size of the cricket bat.
  • The length of a cricket bat should be not more than 38 inches.
  • The blade and the handle are the two important parts of a bat which should be looked at.
  • Try and check whether it is comfortable for you.
  • The last and very important factor regarding bat is the grains on your bat. If there are more grains in your bat, then it means that your bat is made of old wood and is sensitive to rough and tough handling
  • A maximum of four to five grains is considered all right but not more than that.

Next is cricket ball, here are few factors to know and consider before purchasing a cricket ball,

  • The circumference of a standard cricket ball should be about 9 inches. It is made up of cork which is enclosed in twine and covered by leather, which is then again sewed to form a seam.
  • White balls are used in one day internationals and brown or red balls are used in test cricket.
  • Always go for good quality balls and never compromises because of money because, Good quality balls are easy on the fingers while the cheap ones can cut and fracture fingers easily due to their hard surface.
  • The condition of the seam should be always checked, see whether it’s intact and tight before you finalize on one. The seam is hand stitched in every ball. Human craftsmanship does not come error free and so every piece should be closely scrutinized.
